Blackberry ruling could make lawyers very rich
March 19, 2006 – 8:09 pmLawyers make great money, we all know that. But these lawyers stand to make $200 million for representing NTP, Inc in their patent infringement case against Research in Motion.
The firm took the case on contingency in 2001 and helped litigate successfully against Research in Motion Ltd., a Waterloo, Ontario-based company that makes and has sold the BlackBerry to more than 4 million subscribers.
The payment amount would represent more than the company billed all of last year. Blackberry service has been threatened to be interupted several times because of the litigations. A settlement help RIM avoid downtime for Blackberry users.
